Your prompts inside your AI apps
Prompt Petal is an MCP server, the Model Context Protocol that AI apps use to talk to other software. Add it once and Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Codex and other MCP apps can list your prompts, use one on what you are working on, and save new ones you ask for. It runs on your own computer. Part of Prompt Petal Pro.
Set it up
- Open Prompt Petal Settings and choose the AI tab.
- Claude Desktop: click Add to Claude Desktop, then quit Claude Desktop and open it again.
- Cursor: click Add to Cursor. Cursor opens and asks to add Prompt Petal.
- VS Code: click Add to VS Code. VS Code opens and asks to add Prompt Petal for GitHub Copilot.
- Codex: click Copy Codex Command and paste it into a terminal.
- Any other MCP app: click Copy Setup for Other Apps and paste it into that app's MCP settings.
Then just say
- Use my Rewrite prompt on this paragraph.
- Which of my prompts would help with this email?
- Save a prompt called Tighten that cuts filler and keeps every fact.
- Change my Summarize prompt to three bullets instead of one sentence.
What the AI app can do
- Your prompts in its prompt list. Each one shows up by name, and arrives filled with the text you give it.
- list_prompts gives the names of your prompts and the first line of each.
- use_prompt fills one with the text to work on.
- add_prompt saves a new prompt on your ring, when you ask for one.
- edit_prompt renames a prompt or changes its wording, when you ask. Prompts from a pack stay as they are.
A prompt saved by an AI app lands on your ring straight away and syncs to your other devices like one you wrote yourself.
ChatGPT and the Gemini app
They load connectors from the web rather than from your computer. On your computer Prompt Petal types your prompts straight into them from the flower, and an Ask AI petal can send a prompt to OpenAI, Claude or Gemini with your own key.
