Ask AI with your own key
Most of the time you want a prompt typed into a chat. Sometimes you want the answer itself, right where you are: a rewritten sentence in your email, a summary in your notes. An Ask AI petal does that. It sends the prompt, with what you selected, to the AI service you choose and types the answer in place.
Set it up
- Open Prompt Petal Settings, then the AI tab.
- Under Ask AI, choose Claude, Gemini or OpenAI. Get a Key opens that service's key page.
- Paste the key and click Save Key. Type a model name if you want a particular one.
- Make a new petal, choose Ask AI, and put its answer where I am typing, and write its prompt.
Where your key lives
On a Mac the key is kept in this Mac's Keychain, and on Windows it is sealed to your Windows account. It goes only to the service it belongs to, and you pay that service for what you use. Prompt Petal adds nothing on top.
